“I treated a resident who required a feeding tube following complications during her hospital course secondary to COVID-19. The resident was deemed unsafe to consume any food or liquids by mouth following objective testing. She repeatedly expressed that she wanted to be able to enjoy a Shabbat meal with her family. We worked tirelessly in therapy together to improve her swallowing function. I was overjoyed to be able to provide her with her first bite and sip of food and liquids. It was an honor to work with someone who was so dedicated to getting better and to be able to help her achieve her goal.”
